North Rhine-West­phalia Spe­cial Award

On the way to a CO₂-neut­ral so­ci­ety, the build­ing sec­tor, due to its large share of total en­ergy con­sump­tion gained from pre­dom­in­antly fossil re­sources, is of crit­ic­al im­port­ance. In or­der to achieve cli­mate pro­tec­tion and en­ergy ef­fi­ciency goals, new and ret­ro­fit­ted res­id­en­tial and non-res­id­en­tial build­ings must make a de­cis­ive con­tri­bu­tion.
With the North Rhine-West­phalia Spe­cial Award of the En­er­gie­Agen­tur.NRW we show how the Pass­ive House stand­ard is be­ing im­ple­men­ted in North Rhine-West­phalia.
The jury ev­al­u­ates sub­mit­ted NRW prop­er­ties ac­cord­ing to the fol­low­ing cri­ter­ia:

• Sus­tain­ab­il­ity of the over­all concept
• En­ergy ef­fi­ciency
• Ar­chi­tec­tur­al ex­cel­lence
• Prof­it­ab­il­ity

 

 

The En­er­gie­Agen­tur.NRW works on be­half of the state gov­ern­ment of North Rhine-West­phalia as an op­er­a­tion­al plat­form with broad ex­pert­ise in the en­ergy sec­tor: from en­ergy re­search, tech­nic­al de­vel­op­ment, de­mon­stra­tion and mar­ket launch, through ini­tial con­sul­tancy to con­tinu­ing vo­ca­tion­al train­ing. In times of ob­vi­ous cli­mate change and thus a grow­ing aware­ness of cli­mate pro­tec­tion, it is more im­port­ant than ever to pro­mote the de­vel­op­ment of in­nov­at­ive en­ergy tech­no­lo­gies in North Rhine-West­phalia and to show, from a neut­ral per­spect­ive, ways in which com­pan­ies, mu­ni­cip­al­it­ies and private in­di­vidu­als can use en­ergy more eco­nom­ic­ally or make sens­ible use of re­new­able en­er­gies.
