Pro­ject Spot­light: The CLT 8-floor AN­MF hotel in Mel­bourne, Aus­tralia, with her­it­age over­lay

Join us for our next iPHA Pro­ject Spot­light fea­tur­ing an ex­cit­ing Pass­ive House ret­ro­fit pro­ject that reached the Pass­ive House Clas­sic cer­ti­fic­a­tion in Mel­bourne, Aus­tralia.

The eight-story AN­MF hotel provides short-term ac­com­mod­a­tion for mem­bers of the Aus­trali­an Nurs­ing and Mid­wifery Found­a­tion and is one of the most ef­fi­cient short-stay ac­com­mod­a­tions in all of Aus­tralia. The Cer­ti­fied Pass­ive House De­sign­er, Paul O'Bri­en, will present to­geth­er with the Pass­ive House Cer­ti­fi­er, Mar­cus Strang, to cov­er all as­pects of the pro­ject, from plan­ning to the build­ing pro­cess and cer­ti­fic­a­tion.

Es­pe­cially in­ter­est­ing in this pro­ject is the pan­el­ized CLT façade that util­ises pre­fab­ric­a­tion for ef­fi­cient on-site in­stall­a­tion and the re­quired air tight­ness for Pass­ive House. The pro­ject also fea­tures an MVHR sys­tem and strategies to re­duce em­bod­ied car­bon in the fin­ished pro­ject.

Fol­low­ing the present­a­tion, the event will provide an op­por­tun­ity for an ex­cit­ing dis­cus­sion and Q&A with the two speak­ers.
