"Project Spotlight: Sendero Verde, NYC - The tallest Passive House building in the world"
with Dragos Arnautu, Passive House Institute and Bruce Becker, Becker + Becker Associates

The upcoming Project Spotlight follows the journey of an office building designed by Marcel Breuer into a retrofitted EnerPHit hotel featuring 165 suites. The successful retrofit breathed new life into a building, aligning with modern sustainability aspirations.

The two speakers, architect Bruce Becker from Becker + Becker and the certifier Dragos Arnautu from the Passive House Institute, will give a detailed outline of how the retrofitting process went, what thoughts went into the planning and how the EnerPHit standard was reached. They will provide details on what it meant to preserve the intricate facade while insulating the building for thermal comfort and energy efficiency, the roof build-up, the windows and ventilation concepts.

For the audience, the goal of the Project Spotlight is twofold: On the one hand, the presentation will showcase an architecturally pleasing, interesting project, while, on the other hand, we encourage attendees to consider how they could transfer some of the concepts into their own work. During the Q&A portion of the webinar, attendees are encouraged to ask questions and go into detail on what interests them.

This iPHA member webinar will last approximately 90 minutes and is worth 2 Passive House Continuous Education (CEPH) credit points.
