In the face of climate change, the need to curb greenhouse gas emissions is becoming ever more apparent. A key contributor to total greenhouse gas emissions, energy use in buildings can be reduced through increases in energy efficiency while ensuring the highest levels of comfort. In this respect, the Passive House Standard, developed by the Passive House Institute, offers the sustainable and cost effective answer for efficient energy use in buildings. Passive House stands for healthy, comfortable living and impressive energy efficiency, regardless of the regional climate. Within the last several years, Passive House has gained rapidly in popularity, with over 40,000 in existence worldwide, and some 5,000 certified according to strict Passive House Institute certification criteria. These numbers are on the rise. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point’s allocation will be available from participating associations.
