A new three-day exhibition and conference dedicated to the UK sustainable retrofit sector will take place at Birmingham’s NEC from 30 October. Retro Expo, which is being delivered in partnership with BRE and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), will feature an exhibition of products, services and training that will play a part in retrofitting the UK’s 26 million homes and 1.8 million commercial buildings. Timed to coincide with the expected launch of the government’s forthcoming green deal energy saving incentive, the event comprises: The Green Deal Summit: a conference aimed at senior-level stakeholders reviewing progress, driving change and market growth. Key speakers will include government ministers, leading green deal providers, local authority chief executives, international thought leaders and speakers from outside of the industry Retrofit Buyers Forum: a networking opportunity connecting large-scale buyers of goods and services in the refurbishment sector with manufacturers and service suppliers. The forum will provide diarised appointments for more than 100 buyers in one-to-one meetings Exhibition area: 200 exhibitors showcasing innovative technologies, products and services aimed at the retrofit and refurbishment markets in seven zones. The event will also include four industry hubs: Installer Hub, providing energy efficiency tradecraft tips, legislation updates and business advice to SME installers Microgen Hub, providing introductory and advanced level sessions on the use of small scale microgeneration in domestic, commercial and public building refurbishment projects Retrofit for the Future Hub, giving technical results and case studies from the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) led Retrofit for the Future programme including updates on other DECC/TSB-funded retrofit programmes such as Invest in Innovative Refurb (non-domestic) and Energy Efficient Whitehall Qualifications and Training Hub, signposting the routes to accreditation that professionals can trust.
