Passive House Buildings in Hot and Humid Climates: An Example
Presented by Jordan Parnass, Marijke Huelsmann and Dylan Martello

There are two webinar sessions available:

Session 1:  60 minutes (1 CEPH)  12:00 EST / 16:00 UTC
Session 2:  90 minutes (2 CEPH)  19:00 EST / 23:00 UTC

The team behind the EnerPHit retrofit of the Star Innovation Centre in Katunayake, Sri Lanka, will present the next iPHA webinar on the 29th of July, detailing the challenges in realising a Passive House building in a tropical climate.

Because the Star Innovation Center is a milestone in industrial energy efficient retrofitting in a tropical monsoon climate, the Passive House Institute awarded the EnerPHit Pilot Project Certification. The building's use, climate and nature of intervention make it the ideal candidate to become a beacon project and an example to be followed.

The webinar will detail how the design team overcame significant environmental challenges to deliver a building that uses 70% less energy than a comparable new building while increasing occupant comfort. The design team will discuss the methodologies and technologies they employed to deal with the tropical climate and the overall design philosophy they brought to this groundbreaking project.

This iPHA member webinar will last approximately 60 minutes and is worth 1 Passive House Continuous Education (CEPH) credit point.

The iPHA webinar series is a member benefit and free for all members.

NEW: Non-members can access the webinars for 30 EUR.
