MORPH: Monitoring of Radon in Passive Houses

The typical person living in industrial countries spends approximately 90% of their time indoors, of all the indoor pollutants that can accumulate in a home, radon is among the most concerning. The World Health Organisation has identified radon as a known human carcinogen and has reported a wealth of biological and epidemiological evidence connecting radon exposure and lung cancer. Monitoring indoor radon is of fundamental importance, and this research should be of interest to the Passive house community considering the current narrative and debate in many countries in understanding of the effect of increasing energy performance standards and the role of increased airtightness and mechanical ventilation.
