The Passivhaus Bitesize course introduces the key principles of what makes a good low energy, comfortable building, based on the Passivhaus standard. It is delivered in a series of half-day online sessions.
Audience
Ideal for architects, estates teams, housing associations and anyone wanting to find out more about Passivhaus.
Brief Overview
Module 1 – Fundamentals
Introduction, including an overview of construction, airtightness, thermal bridging, and extra services requirements. Also, touch on design to avoid overheating.
Module 2 – Construction
Detail workshops: construction of junctions and material samples, airtightness exercise.
Module 3 – Building Services
Services for building designers. What they all mean. Space requirements. Layout requirements. Simple service strategy and considerations.
Module 4 – Putting Passivhaus into Practice
Review your own project. Listen to each other’s projects and to the practical development advice given by experienced practitioners.
The trainers
UK experts – our trainers are the experts who are successfully designing/ building Passivhaus in UK. Our collective experience includes non-domestic buildings, large residential schemes and real Passivhausconstruction experience.
Highly experienced trainers – amongst others, Bill Butcher, Eric Parks, Mark Siddall, Alan Clarke, Sally Godber, Mike Roe, Will Southand Nick Grant. Not to mention Peter Warm and the rest of the WARM staff who have supported over 200 buildings in low energy design, and are Passivhaus certifiers.
